Our company, ClearFlame Engines, is working on a set of modifications to convert Diesel engines in the heavy-duty sector to run on cleaner fuels like ethanol, methanol, or DME. The project began with modeling and experimental work during PhD work at Stanford, and we've been able to begin work at Argonne on a single-cylinder engine to build off of that work. We've secured about $900k in grant funding so far, and our ARE fellow will help us to gain additional laboratory data and construct our first prototype.
